Description

This LP, MILES DAVIS 'KIND OF BLUE' on COLUMBIA CS 8163, is well renowned through Jazz history, as a standout classic recording that helped cement Miles as the most influencial musician of his time! This is no best-kept secret, in some obscure corner of the jazz genre - but it is PARTICULARLY nice to find an ORIGINAL ISSUE 'SIX-EYE' copy and in the very rare STEREO release!!! As an 1959 release, this label-issue was available briefly before Columbia changed the design to the more commonly-seen 60's label style - but you have to realise that this is also VERY EARLY DAYS for STEREO records in sales, as most people still had the older mono equipment and several were slow to accept an advance in Hi-Fi when it meant changing needles and expensive new players and amps. By the late sixties, it was 'mono' releases that became scarcer! We know how well 'Quadrophonic' went down with buyers, so it's no surprise that Stereo wasn't instantly embraced by everyone. We vinyl buyers also, it should be said, know well that digital cds are not all they were cracked up to be, and the so-called 'advance' in sound has been a bit of a lie!! (for those of us who believe our ears anyway)(at least cds are okay for the car stereo)but I digress.. The amazing line-up is MILES DAVIS/JOHN COLTRANE/BILL EVANS/PAUL CHAMBERS/CANNONBALL ADDERLEY/WYNTON KELLY/& JIMMY COBB. Tracklist; So what, Freddie Freeloader, Blue In Green, Flamenco Sketches, All Blues. CONDITION; the VINYL is VG++ to EX condition, there are a few superficial surface marks NOT deep into the grooves, and sporadic light sleeve scuff. It has been previously owned and played, the sound is nice and clear with the music to the fore. This is a solid 'deep-groove' pressing on lovely original vinyl platter! The music is breathtaking, of course. The LABELS are super-clean, very bright color with no scuff. MATRIX numbers for the pressing end with '1AL' and '1BB'! (First press??!) The COVER has some light storage scuff wear to the front, and shows the original STEREO emblem design. Due to some edge-wear and separation to part of the top edge, a couple of tiny nicks and age-discoloration to the rear, I shall grade this as only VG. Not bad, but obviously handled. The original inner is also here (as shown). Certainly a quality piece of music history and a really rare collectible piece for the connoisseur (or any music fan who wants to have the top classic music of this genre!!). NO RESERVE and a LOW STARTING PRICE, so you the bidder can decide what YOU feel this is worth, and the winner WILL get to own it without meeting some outrageous pre-determined seller price!! Winning bidder please add $5 for postage and packing in USA, international/insurance extra. Save if buying more items (PLEASE SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS for more cool collectible gems). ------------------------------------------------------------- I have been a collector and music enthusiast for 35yrs+, grading according to what I expect when I am buying for myself.
