UK CBS (88514) FIRST PRESSING (1981) OF "Directions", A DOUBLE LP SET OF PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED MILES DAVIS RECORDINGS DATING FROM 1960 - 1970

SOME REALLY FANTASTIC MATERIAL ON THIS SET; FROM THE OPENER "Song of Our Country" (1960) WHICH IS AS GOOD AS ANYTHING ON "Sketches of Spain", TO THE FOUR LONG TRACKS ON RECORD TWO (1968/70) WHICH ARE INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL AND HAUNTING

BOTH RECORDS ARE IN SUPERB CONDITION AND DELIVER FLAWLESS, MINT AUDIO THROUGHOUT
MATRIX: 88514 A1 / 88514 B1 / 88514 C1 / 88514 D1
AND ARE HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL OUTER LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE PRINTED BY “Shorewood Packaging Co. Ltd., England” WITH EXTENSIVE INTERNAL NOTES BY BOB BLUMENTHAL

This double album of previously un-issued material features Davis over the ten-year period 1960 - 1970. "Song of Our Country" is from the sessions that led to Sketches of Spain and there is a "new" version of "'Round Midnight" from 1961 along with "So Near, So Far" dating from 1963. Otherwise the remainder is from the transitional 1967-70 period when Davis was experimenting with combining jazz and rock. The music is mostly fascinating, featuring such players as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea and John McLaughlin and it is highly recommended to collectors with an open ear toward fusion

LABELS: All labels are clean and bright with no marks/writing. Both records have seen moderate play as indicated by spindle marks but both records have also been extremely well cared for - the vinyl surfaces are pristine and the audio is flawless
VINYL Visual: The vinyl surfaces still retain their original deep, like-new lustre and are completely unmarked
VINYL Audio: Both records play as-new with MINT audio throughout - no scratches, no clicks or pops and no surface noise (not even on the quietest tracks; 'Ascent' and 'Konda' which have sections of very sparse instrumentation delivered here as quietly as vinyl possibly can). The whole set plays beautifully throughout to the highest possible standard with great clarity, no distortion and no groove-wear and it sounds absolutely sensational. Critically graded as MINT for audio quality this is a great copy and one which would be pretty hard to beat
SLEEVE: The gatefold sleeve is graded a very strong EXCELLENT and apart from a little minor storage wear to the edges and some light creasing to the spine it's in great shape (please see photos)
