"The Mildred Bailey Show" Radio Show Transcription Disc. The first half, approximately 15 minutes of a radio program on this 16 inch, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm disc. This Disc was recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, very rare!
"The Mildred Bailey Show" radio program from January 5, 1945. This is the first half, the first approximately 15 minutes of the radio program.
Program stars Mildred Bailey with guest Charlie Shavers. Tommy Dorsey is also announced as a guest but does not appear on this part of the show
The members of the sextet are identified as Teddy Wilson, Charlie Shavers, Tommy Kay, Al Hall, Red Norvo & Specs Powell
Songs include "It Had To Be You" vocal Mildred Bailey, "Summertime" featuring Charlie Shavers on trumpet, "Sleighride In July" vocal Milred Bailey, "The Shiek Of Araby", "Swing Low Sweet Chariott" vocal Mildred Bailey
Side two of the disc features the song "Stompin' At The Savoy" by the sextet, also written on the disc is "unknown source"
Disc is in Excellent condition with Excellent sound, sounds like a direct linecheck from the network
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer
