This auction is about a MIKIS THEODORAKIS rare 7” with excellent sleeve. This is a HIS MASTER VOICE release (made in Greece) with a cat.num.: 7ERGG 2.

The vinyl is in a VG++ condition.

The sleeve has a not obtrusive to the eye ringwear.

 

Mikis Theodorakis composed four song series in 1958, the fourth and last of which is that on this record. “THE CYCLE” for one voice and piano is a harmony of five folk melodies from different districts of Greece, from Epirus to Crete.

These melodies, with their wide range and variation of tempo, rhythm and mood, have been woven into a delightfully contrasting pattern. The composer uses the piano, in the manner of the Greek folk-song instrumentalists, to lead up to the following melody, at the same time happily linking up the contrasting elements with it into a coherent whole.
