Description
Extremely rare and unusual 1973 Rhodesian pressing of Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells - an iconic album which needs no introduction!
Bearing the first white Virgin label and catalogue no. V2001, it has the Music Record Shop retailer stamp to the rear which we understand was in the Old Mutual Centre in Harare.
Degritter cleaned, the heavyweight vinyl has come up spotlessly clean with good lustrous sheen retained and some minor scuff marks visible but no feelable damage. Clean labels with some spindle trails visible - graded VG.
Playtest reveals a vibrant, clear and very dynamic sound with wonderful instrument separation. There is some light intermittent noise/crackle in some of the quieter passages but no jumping or sticking - the vinyl plays as it should.
The outer sleeve is typical of African pressings of the time - made with recycled card which gives it a softer matt feel and grainier texture. Still sturdy and solid with the usual age related wear to spine, corners and edges ( see photos) Retailer stamp plus a sticker to the rear. No writing, stains, splits, tape or tears.
A rare opportunity for a collector or someone who wants to own a more unusual copy.
We have taken lots of photos in good natural daylight so you can see exactly what you are buying. Please take a moment to look at the photos as they form part of the description.
