MIKE ABSALOM - UK VERTIGO SWIRL - MEGA RARE! AWESOME!

Description

MIKE ABSALOM

"MIKE ABSALOM"

1971 - 6360 053 VERTIGO

RARE UK 1ST PRESS ON VERTIGO SWIRL LABELS

1Y1/2Y1 STAMPED MATRIX

IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND! TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE! ONE OF THE RAREST SWIRLS TO GET, THIS IS ALSO A FASCINATING LISTEN AND SUPERB CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL COMMENT ON DRUGS, POLICE INTIMIDATION AND CORRUPTION IN THE EARLY 70'S! GREAT LYRICS!

PLAYGRADED: not simply glanced at with a superficial visual grading, fully played and graded throughout (listened to on headphones - the most revealing playgrade method, with no exterior audio distractions)

OUTER SLEEVE:

Great copy, fold-out poster sleeve designed and illustrated by Roger Dean. In great condition with minor wear to edges/corners, but looks superb. Spine is quite worn and has been touched up a little. Near impossible to see this sleeve without edge wear and spine wear. There are also a few discrete pin holes, has been used as a poster in its past. Still nice and intact however and looks great - try and find another one!

TOP AND BOTTOM EDGES

Hardly any wear at all, hint of some touch ups but still, near impossible to find like this!

OPENING EDGES

Light feathering/thumbing to opening edges, still very nice.

VINYL:

6 3 6 0 0 5 3   1 Y // 1   4 2 0       1   1   2

 6 3 6 0 0 5 3   2 Y // 1     4 2 0       1   1   1

VERY NICE VINYL! VERY FEW VISIBLE MARKS AT ALL UNDER NORMAL LIGHT!

Under direct halogen light there are quite a few fine hairlines caused by removal from the inner sleeve and light wear and tear from a small amount of play over the years. Plays superbly with hardly any background noise throughout most of the record (there is always some background rumble/hiss from vinyl). There are the occasional light few clicks, but way back in the music so not intrusive at all. Given the predominantly acoustic guitar tracks, it's incredible that it plays as well as this at all. Most were played at 'trippy' parties in the early seventies and ended up trashed, but this one has been very well looked after. Great copy and hard to beat. EX audio (MINT in places!)

LABELS:

Original SWIRL labels with the large overall swirl on the A side and the classic design on the B side - large swirl above the spindle and 'VERTIGO' below the spindle. Only ever issued once and then immediately deleted due to very poor sales (a common theme with Vertigo artists it seems!). Stunning condition with thankfully NO graffiti and only a few light spindle traces.

INNER SLEEVE:

Original Swirl inner sleeve complete with the correct date code for the release - 0671 (June 1971). Hard to find these inner sleeves with swirl labels. Original poly lined sleeve is in nice condition, couple of minor seam splits but generally nice and intact.

POSTAGE AND PACKING:

I recycle as much existing material as possible and reuse record mailers if they are of good enough quality. Edges and corners are reinforced with packing tape. Stiffeners are used to strengthen and support the record.

Vinyl is removed from the outer gatefold to prevent any 'knifing' to the outer sleeve.

I ship in the UK using Royal Mail 1st Class. A certificate of postage is obtained for every item. Signed for delivery is available on request at extra cost. Please ask.

Feedback is left for buyers once they have contacted me and left feedback stating they are happy with their purchase. Should there be any issues, please contact me first.

I ship worldwide. Item will be shipped in board-stiffened mailers for maximum protection.
