Description

* NO RESERVE 5 Day Auction *

I am auctioning a Near Mint  (1981) Original 1st release of PLANETARY UNFOLDING by Michael Stearns on Continuum Montage CM-1004. This is a highly desirable recording, especially in this Near Mint condition. See detailed condition below.

I must admit I have not listened to it EVER!. I always planned to but it just never happened. I know it is Ambient Electronic genre and that is just about it. Here are the Matrix Run-outs:

Side A: (Hand Etched) KM-10634-A + (stamped) KM (etched) + CM1004-A

Side B: (Hand Etched) KM-10634-B + (stamped) KM (etched) + CM1004-B

I think this is the 1st release because it is with the Continuum label. You will need to judge what this is and its release date by looking at the photos and researching the Matrix, I can not assure it is the 1st release as I did not purchase it new....sorry.

I purchased it from a garage sale 10 years ago because of the condition and the rear liner notes. I figured HEY...for $5.00 how can I go wrong! It was in perfect unplayed condition (and still is) and the guy I got it from told me it was a gift and he didn't have a record player anymore. Cool! Now I hope someone out there would love to give it a good home where it would be enjoyed. I will start the bidding low and see what happens.

Thanks for looking..All the good words.....WILSON.

My background: I still have hundreds of Albums and many are audiophile recordings and collectables. Selling them all as well as all of my audio equipment - It is just time to down size.... My albums after 1975 have always been played on Mid-Fi or higher end equipment (most currently  a Music Hall MMF5 Turntable with Goldring 1012 GX cart) with great care given to handing, disc playing protocol and storage.
Condition:

Cover Jacket- EX+: binding is not torn, no break thru, spline is perfectly readable, Color is very good but a little dirty and a light bend upper right hand corner, light ring wear front and back and nearly no shelf rub on bottom edges. Some minor compression outside ring wear front only.
Spindle  Hole- Side one EX++, Side two EX++ , see pics.
Inner Sleeve- Very Good  poly sleeve.
Inserts: None
LP Record:  Near Mint, it personally appears unplayed. I have never played it and it has not been cleaned.

I am now using "Record Collector" Magazine grading. Also adding a Near Mint (NM) between a Mint (M) and an Excellent (EX) Grade. I may add the + if I feel the condition is better or a - if less then the listed ratings' describe. Even new unopened records have a surface noise here and there depending on your equipment. A VG Record will also have some surface noise as it is the nature of the media.

RECORD COLLECTORS GRADING SYSTEM

Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condiition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or minor creasing. Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displayes no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any moajor defects is acceptable Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has notceably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc Fair (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratched, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler

PLEASE CONSIDER THAT RECORD GRADING IS SUBJECTIVE.

I grade conservatively in describing the record and Jacket. I also grade visually according to my own experience as a long time record collector and I believe my standards are high so I am sure my rating will represent the item(s) accurately.

International Buyers;

IMPORTANT!!!

If you place the winning bid, please DO NOT PAY until I have sent an invoice for the actual cost of the international shipping. Multiple Items; I will combine multiple winning items for the actual cost of the shipping if you desire! I can ship up to 5 single LPs in the carton.

If I state FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING and you are the winning bidder and live outside of the USA I will deduct $4.00 USD from your Invoice.

Import Tax and Duty - Please understand I will NOT mark an item as a "gift". Doing so would be dishonest and unethical. The value marked on the customs forms will reflect the actual cost of the merchandise (NOT including any shipping charges). The buyer is responsible for any and all duty and import taxes.
