Description

This auction is for The Rolling Stones, the Limited Edition Library of Original Master Recordings from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. This set is edition # 2766.

The definitive Rolling Stones recordings… those that have reached almost legendary status in the annals of contemporary music… were recorded between 1963 and 1999. It was their first decade of recording when spotlights like “Brown Sugar”, “Honky Tonk Woman”, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, “Gimme Shelter”, “Street Fighting Man”, “Midnight Ramble” and more than 100 others were recorded. It is these songs, comprising their first remarkable albums that form the basis for The Rolling Stones, the Limited Edition of vinyl LPs from MFSL.

Each of these 10 Original Master Recordings (11 LPs) contained within, were the result of the exclusive half-speed mastering and then pressing from a master stamper at the Victor Company of Japan (JVC) plant in Japan on an exclusive Super Vinyl, which is heavier and harder than ordinary vinyl and it has an extraordinary quiet playing surface.

It might be for the first time, you will be able to really experience the uncompromising, powerful sound of The Rolling Stones. You will hear everything, in remarkable sonic detail, from the original master recording tapes. Every subtle nuance of Mick Jagger’s distinctive vocals, every explosive riff from the guitars of Keith Richard and Brian Jones, those memorable Bill Wyman bass-lines and the drumming of Charlie Watts.

This Rolling Stones Collection (in my opinion) is the “sexiest” of all 3 box sets the MFSL released (others 2 are The Beatles and Sinatra). The contrasts of black and bright red colors of the box as well as of the record covers are very impressive, eyes catching and beautiful. The weakest part of this particular collection is the marks on the spines of the covers (see the picture), probably combination of the age and moving the box. The strongest part is - the records themselves. They are beautiful, shiny, with no any marks or spots on them. And the best part is – they play GREAT!!! The records looked as not being played at the time when I acquired the set. I was curious about the sound so I played them all on a high end (VPI) turntable and I was very pleased. Quiet, no background noise, great dynamics and a full frequency range – the way they supposed to sound. So if your passion is to listen to the music and also have a nice box on display, this set might be for you - it is gorgeous!!!

Inside the box there are 11 LPs each inserted in an anti-static, anti-abrasive “rice paper” sleeve, then enclosed in a reinforced stiff insert board and then inserted in a custom fabricated album jacket for enhanced protection. Those complete album packages are then filed in a molded, high impact styrene divider rack. There is also The Artbook with reprinted album cover graphics and a Geo Disc – a precise alignment instrument, which permits you to easily align the cartridge of your turntable, to improve the playback.
