Description

I have a mint copy of a Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs unreleased test pressing of The Moody Blues In Search of the Lost Chord.  I am the second owner and played it once on a high-end SME turntable with Graham tonearm and Audioquest cartridge.  It plays at least mint minus and there are no spindle marks.  I am not sure how many know that MFSL made test pressings of records that they never released.   This is one of them, existing only as test pressings, of which there are undoubtedly only a few existing.  I thought it sounded better than any other versions of In Search of the Lost Chord, but you, like me, probably won't play it, preferring it for its collectability.  As you can see from the picture, it has a white label, MFSL-1-195-A1 and B2 matrix lettering in the dead wax, and comes in a white jacket.  It is a heavier pressing than normal records, probably a 180 gram LP.  It also has an inner plastic-lined sleeve with MFSL-1-195 A1B2 hand-written on the sleeve. The label and sleeve have text in German, probably meaning this test pressing was pressed at a pressing house in Germany.  I am aware that MFSL sometimes tried various pressing houses to test their performance, especially in the latter days of their initial existence.  BTW, the reflection on the record is just that, a reflection of an overhead light.  If you would like the ultimate rare copy of The Moody Blues In Search of The Lost Chord, good luck in your bidding.
