Description
This is a test pressing that was purchased from a former Mobile Fidelity Employee. It was factory sealed, but was opened and played once to determine what it is. The plain cardboard sleeve is labeled "SR's Favorites A / B2 FEB 23 1998". The label has one printed side that reads the same (the other label is blank). The record plays at 45 RPM and features 3 or four tracks spread out on it's two sides. Side one has "From The Age Of Swing" by Dick Hyman and "Black Beauty" by Tomas Omberg's Blue Five & The Swedish Jazz Kings. Side Two has what appears to be two tracks (although it may be one long piece), but we were unable to identify them - although they are in a similar vein musically to the tracks on Side One. It is believed that the record's existence is the result of a personal project by Shawn Britton (mistakenly referred to as "SB" instead of "SR" in the print here), a mastering engineer who has worked for MFSL for many years. Apparently, Britton has been known to master his favorite tracks to vinyl and press them in extremely limited runs of Test Pressings for friends and colleagues - and according to the source, this is one of them! An incredibly rare MFSL collectible for any fan of the label's vinyl jazz releases, and possibly the only one that has ever made it to market!
