Description
This is an extremely rare opportunity to obtain the original mighty Meteors first release, Meteor Madness, on the Ace (white) label as it appeared when sent out as an advance press copy in 1981 exclusively pressed on 10" vinyl. The disc appears unplayed - proof being in the track-listing stickers across the white labels, that, while marginally torn, could not possibly have had a turntable's spindle through them. The crude hand-made cover is a little dusty in spots but otherwise in extraordinary condition for a twenty-five year old disc. While I have seen one or two of these come up over the last few decades I have never seen one with no centre holes open and, crucially, that still included the original 1981 press release from Chiswick Records explaining its existence. "Chiswick have decided to release this record on Ace - normally the reserve of authentic original 1950s rockabilly...- after they heard the results of the unique recording session..." After detailing the recording session and pressing technique ("...cutting the master laquers directly from the master tape") it is verified that this record is one of just 200 advance copies made in the 10" format and not commerically available.
The starting price is low and there is no reserve on this much sought after classic from physco/rockabilly past.
