1984 Mispressed and Not For Public Sale! METALLICA - "Ride The Lightning" GREEN Picture Disc-1984; U.K. Edition!!! Music For Nations #SB-18026
ULTRA RARE 1984 "For Promotional Use Only - Not For Sale" - NEW, UNPLAYED, MINT, MISPRESSED, U.K. GREEN PICTURE DISC EDITION - Very Limited, Hard to Find - Highly Sought After METALLICA Collectable VINYL Picture Disc - NEW / MINT, Stored Unplayed and Unopened for 28 years!!! " This "Ride The Lightning" LP Picture Disc was manufactured by Bernett Records of France in 1984 under license from Megaforce Records. Bernett Records pressed these picture discs for MUSIC FOR NATIONS RECORDS of London, U.K. - Instead of using the original "Ride The Lightning" blue ink as requested by M.F.N., Bernett accidentally used green ink instead, also MISTAKENLY Labeling Track 3, Side 1 as "FOR WHOM THE BELLS TOLL". As a result the few copies that were pressed using the green ink were designated and held for "Promotional Use - Not For Sale" and stamped on the bottom of Side 2. These green misprinted copies were not made available for public sale, and that along with their very limited number of pressings make them extremely RARE, collectable, and valuable. This particular copy was acquired, kept, sealed, and stored as part of my personal collection via a Music For Nations Records associate in London way back in the mid 80's, brand new, unused, unopened, unplayed, with the vinyl untouched ever since. All U.K. picture discs both for sale or promotion would come only in a thick protective, clear, unsealed plastic sleeve - this particular disc and protective sleeve was shrink wrapped and remains shrink wrapped for added protection. This rare mispressed disc is absolutely mint, unplayed, and brand new.
Ride The Lightning (1984) 1. Fight Fire With Fire
2. Ride The Lightning
3. For Whom The Bells Toll (Mistaken Label Print for Song Title)
4. Fade To Black
5. Trapped Under Ice
6. Escape
7. Creeping Death
8. The Call Of Ktulu Don't let that classical-guitar-ish opening to "Fight Fire with Fire" fool you--Ride the Lightning packs a heavy-metal wallop, this early Metallica album is indubitably one of their best. Thematically, it explores death and dying from myriad points of view: nuclear war ("Fight Fire with Fire"), electric-chair execution (the title track), and drowning ("Trapped Under Ice"). Interestingly, the best track on this album is probably "Fade to Black," a slower, more introspective song about suicide. There's also "Creeping Death," which remains a concert favorite. An excellent mix of rapid-fire guitar riffs, rip-roaring solos, and singer James Hetfield's trademark growl, this is thrash metal at its finest. Very highly recommended. --Genevieve Williams This is a must have for any Metallica Collector! Here is your chance to own an Original New Virgin copy!!!
