Description
Up for auction is a super rare promotional copy of the classic Metallica album "Ride The Lightning" originally released in the U.S. on Elektra/Megaforce Records (60396-1) in 1984.
-Guaranteed original pressing -White Label Promotional copy -Cover also has Promotional stamp -Includes original illustrated insert/inner sleeve -Disc comes in audiophile poly-lined protective sleeve
Condition: The cover is still in nice condition but does show signs of wear and handling. Moderate creasing along top edge, spine, and lower left corner (see photos). Some small chips along spine and top edge. Minor rub bottom middle front. Otherwise still a very attractive cover. Grade the cover Very Good Plus (VG+).
The vinyl is a little hard to grade. Overall, the disc appears to be in Excellent condition, still retains its original high gloss shine. No obvious scratches or scuffs--just some very faint hairlines from taking the vinyl out of the paper inner sleeve.
Note (read carefully): However, on the 2nd track, Side One, "Ride The Lightning", there is a small pressing blip or anomaly (see photo close-up), not a scratch. It plays through on my turntable, but does cause an audible clicking and slight distortion for a few rotations, and on some turntables it may cause a small skip or rumble. The rest of the record plays perfectly, and the sound quality is Excellent and clean. I'm grading this record Very Good Plus (VG+) overall, with the understanding that there is this one pressing irregularity that could down-grade it. Still, as is, this is an incredibly rare record--and still collectible.
