Description
This is the rare first pressing of Meredith Monk's first album, 1971's Key, on Increase Records. Very unusual experimental vocal music already in full-flower on her first record. This copy is in very nice shape: the disc is a strong VG++, I would say, with some gentle scuffing and light marks, but plays mostly beautifully. There are occasional little pops and some faint background noise in places, but mostly it is a clear and unfettered sound. Much of the music is very quiet and this copy plays it all very nicely. Really a beautiful sounding copy. All the copies I have seen over the years have been less good. The cover is also quite nice, with no seam splits and very little wear. Some corner wear on all four corners, but it is light. There is a sort of smear of some sort which you can see when you hold it to the light.. hard to explain, but the last picture attempts to show it. Just a light brushing of the cover... barely noticeable. The rare insert is also included, and it is in nice shape except a little dribble of old glue at the bottom edge, where there is a small rip. Very small. See photo. Not bad, but it's there. Overall an incredibly lovely copy of this very rare pressing. Legendary now, but very underground then, and so very few copies were made.
