this performance from 1939 is really monumental... listen and shiver. Here the rare 3LP box set released by PHILIPS who wonderfully captured this historic performance with stunning soundquality. Catalognumber is 6747168. The box, complete with 4-page booklet (English/German) and all vinyl are in NEARMINT condition.
Autographs: Please note that the previous owner added two very historic pieces of paper to this box set, that feature a note and two autographs by Karl Erb, plus autographs by other performers (not sure by whom, I am not an expert - pls tell me if you know more...). They are dated 29th of March 1942 and 2nd of April 1944... It was on the latter date that Mengelberg performed the St. Matthew Passion for the last time with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
