MELIMELUM - s/t
Original Argentinian pressing on the CBS label (119.619) from 1976.
The laminated gatefold sleeve is EX and the record is in NM condition. The record has a very light warp that doesn't effect playing the record. It is a promo copy.
Melimelum is a Jorge Durietz band (member of Pedro y Pablo one of the most popular folk-rock duo from argentinian 70's music)
To help with the description I will quote the "Magic Land" book, ( a complete guide about southamerican beat, psychedelic and progressive rock with full coverage about Lps and Artists, maybe the best about local music):
"After Pedro y Pablo broke-up, Jorge Durietz (Pablo) formed this short living but interesting folk rock group. Durietz composed all songs from their only LP, which featured very nice relaxing songs with guitars (acoustic and electric) and flutes. The naïf drawing of the cover was a good sample of what was inside"
After the well known Argentinian folk rock duo Pedro y Pablo broke-up, Jorge Durietz, the artist formerly known as "Pablo", formed this interesting folk rock group, whose name is latin for honey apple, or quince.
Durietz composed all songs from their only LP, released in 1976, which featured relaxing songs with a gentle bossa nova flavour, highlighted by vocal harmonies, guitars (acoustic and electric) and flutes. Durietz wrote or co-wrote all the songs, which he dubbed "humanist romance". Arrangements were sensitively handled by Daniel Russo who also played bass and piano. The naïve drawing on the cover was a good example of what was inside.
The sole Melimelum album is recommended to fans of the type of spare and deceptively simplistic folk prog that seems to be endemic to Argentina.
