Description

A NEAR MINT COPY OF THIS GREAT 1929 ORIGINAL RARITY !!

Precious little is known about the life of Perry Dixon past the two tracks, "Back to Georgia" and "Be Mean to Your Baby," that he recorded for Columbia Records on December 6, 1929, in Dallas, TX.  Dixon is known to have recorded an additional two tracks in Dallas on October 31, 1929, for Brunswick Records, but these were never released. Another unreleased side was recorded October 6, 1934, for the American Record Company, but this appears to have been mostly an audition, and there is some uncertainty whether the performer was actually the same Perry Dixon - although given the Dallas recording location, it probably was.

A singer named Pere Dickson recorded two songs for Victor Records on February 9, 1932, again in Dallas, and it may be reasonable to assume this was actually Dixon at the session. Brian Rust mentions that Perry Dixon may also have been known as "Pearl Dickson"
