This is the RARE second-label issue that has only 1 BMI credit on the label (following “I Want to Hold Your Hand”).  All other song titles are listed as ASCAP.  There are NO “Produced by George Martin” or BMI/ASCAP credits below the liner notes on the back cover, which has the small number ‘3’ on the lower right corner, identifying it as being manufactured in Scranton, PA.   It is the ORIGINAL 1964 Capitol release, not ‘new,’ ‘remastered,’ ‘reissued,’ Parlophone, Apple, etc., and has NO SUBSIDIARY listed.  According to Jerry Osborne’s latest price guide, the near-mint value of this album is from $1,000-$1,500, so this is an excellent buy for someone looking for this LP.

RECORD GRADING (USING GOLDMINE STANDARDS):

VINYL CONDITION: VG+ or E (Very Good Plus or Excellent), with good luster on the surface and a few light superficial surface marks that do not affect sound quality.  Labels are clean and unmarked, with NO writing, name labels, misshapen hole, etc., though there are some minor spindle “search” marks around the holes.  I’ve listened to the entire record using headphones, and it plays nearly perfectly, with no skips and very little surface noise.

COVER CONDITION: G to VG (Good to Very Good), with very little scuffing and NO name labels, creases, folds, wrinkles, puckers, stains, ring wear, or promo holes or cuts.  There is some splitting on the top seam (with some unobtrusive ‘invisible’ tape along the back spine with the number “398” in pencil beneath it), and a slight tear at the middle top that extends slightly into the “T” in the word BEATLES (see picture).  If not for these minor issues, this cover would definitely be in the “VG” category.

SLEEVE: The record comes with the original Capitol blue inner sleeve, which is in very good condition.

This is a very nice item and very collectible for any fan of the Beatles!
