MAY BLITZ, SELF TITLED ALBUM, UK VERTIGO SWIRL LP, 1970, HARD / PROG ROCK

May Blitz – Self titled album
May Blitz were a British heavy rock power trio that was active in the early 1970s. The group was formed in 1969 by bassist Terry Poole and drummer Keith Baker, the rhythm section of the blues-rock trio Bakerloo, both of whom left the group when guitarist Clem Clempson departed to join Colosseum. Jamie Black joined the group on vocals and guitars but both Poole and Baker left this group as well before it recorded anything, Poole joining Vinegar Joe and Baker Uriah Heep. Black then added fellow Canadian Reid Hudson on bass and Tony Newman, who had played with Jeff Beck, The Hollies and Sounds Incorporated, on drums.
This record has only been graded as ‘fair/good’ as it has not been well looked after. It has numerous scrape/scratch marks. It plays with some crackle throughout but it doesn ’t jump, skip or stick. The crackle isn’t overpowering though and it is still a good listen. As this album is very rare I have decided to auction it as a ‘collection filler’ for someone. Do not expect it to look great or play perfectly!!!

Side One: Smoking The Day Away; I Don’t Know; Dreaming.
Side Two: Squeet; Tomorrow May Come; Fire Queen; Virgin Waters.
The album is on Vertigo Records, 6360 007. Matrix side one: 6360007 1Y//1   11   1 (stamped). Matrix side two: 6360007 2Y//1   12   2 (stamped).
Released in 1970. UK pressing. Stereo.
See photos below for more info.

Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)
Vinyl side 1: fair (has numerous scrape/scratch marks and plays with crackles/clicks throughout but is still a good listen with nothing too overpowering. Doesn ’t stick, skip or jump).
Vinyl side 2: good (has numerous scrape/scratch marks and plays with crackles/clicks throughout but is still a good listen with nothing too overpowering. Slightly better than side one! Doesn ’t stick, skip or jump).
Cover (unlaminated, gatefold): good (a lot of corner, edge and spine wear, some staining mainly on the back, a bit rough looking).
Comes with the original Vertigo swirl inner sleeve in fair condition! – 9cm edge split on top left, creases, staining and catalogue number written in pen.
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.
Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
