Mauricio Kagel's legendary opus magnum for experimental sound producers & loudspeakers.

Some info on the release:  Bloody rare original issue, released in Germany sometime in the 70's on the german Deutsche Grammophon label. The first two parts of "Acustica" are live performances by five musicians (recorded at Studio Rhenus, Godorf bei Köln, on January 28-31, 1971) and the second two parts are electroacoustic compositions produced in 1969. The live performances use a crazy collection of homemade instruments, some purely acoustic and others incorporating loud-speakers, tone generators, or cassette recorders.

Mauricio Kagel's Acustica, for experimental sound-producers and loudspeakers. This piece features some of the most astonishing timbres I have ever heard. As far as I can glean from reading the record notes, the first two parts are live performances by five musicians (recorded at Studio Rhenus, Godorf bei Köln, on January 28-31, 1971) and the second two parts are electroacoustic compositions produced in 1969. The live performances use a crazy collection of homemade instruments (see the included notes for details), some purely acoustic and others incorporating loud-speakers, tone generators, or cassette recorders.

The two electroacoustic sides are well worth listening to, but I particularly recommend the tremendously complex sounds on the first two sides. They have a texture somewhat like electronic music, but with more timbral detail owing to the acoustic sound sources. Personally, I find these sides awe-inspiring. If you are instead horrified by what strikes you as unspeakable cacophony, we will have to agree to disagree.

According to the Hugh Davies catalog (Repertoire international des musiques electroacoustiques), Mauricio Kagel composed 8 electroacoustic pieces in the period from 1951-1953, tried to set up an electronic music studio in Argentina, but after failure came to Europe. He has composed numerous pieces for tape, electronic and public sounds, electronic and handmade instruments, loudspeakers, sound generators, amplifiers, 22 or 33 or 44 silent performers or chairs. You can find him listed in Unesco's cultural heritage assets.

Vinko Globokar is one of 20th Century's most important improvisors and composers. His composer works have been released from DGG Avant Garde series, Harmonia Mundi, BASF, FMP (Han Bennink, Peter Brotzmann, Moshlang-Guhl, Yoshi Wada, Michael Waisvisz, Hugh Davies, Radu Malfatti, Stephan Wittwer), while he was a founding member of the great improvising group New Phonic Art back in 1969 and recorded a couple of records with them on Wergo and Deutsche Grammophon. As a performer he was specialized in trombone, but had a wide knowledge of other musical instruments too. He inspired composers as Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel and Luciano Berio to write works especially for him. A highlight is considered Kagel's "Atem / Morceau de Concours".

Condition: Vinyls lie in mint condition, look super clean and play perfectly, while cover lies in very good+ shape, with minor corner creases on the right, tiny cancellation mark and slight lamination peeling off at the back (see picture).
