UK 45 on FONTANA RECORDS TF 664 from 1966
This is their rarest, and it's a garage beat corker... and it's a two-sider too!
Both are up-beat guitar-driving gems of the first order, and with all the characteristics of a Creation classic. The style and the vocals are instantly recognizable, and it was only a name-change away from the Pop-Art Mod that got them the recognition they deserved.
Shel Talmy, ruffled from his experience with The WHO, made it his business to
get the best out of these lads, and with him becoming acclimatized with the 60's British
pop world, it was a good match - and 'Makin' Time' was soon to be their next single release.
Both cuts self-penned by Kenny Lee (Pickett) and lead guitarist Eddie Phillips,
this was a very worthy recording - raw but well-enough arranged to hint at what a quality
outfit they really were.
Great to find this monster single in such brilliant shape!
