CONDITION
Vinyl: EX
(Thick heavy vinyl retains its full gloss and shine, it's virtually blemish free, having only a couple of very faint wispy hairlines seen under a bright light. This LP has been played very little and carefully in the near 40 years I have owned it. The vinyl is in truly excellent condition and plays beautifully with superb sound clarity throughout. A great original 1st pressing of this rare UK 70s folk/rock lp)
Labels: VG+ / EX
(The A side label has some faded black marker pen initials (see pic.no.7). The B side label is clean and unmarked)
Lyric Sheet Insert: EX
(The often missing lyric insert is present and is in excellent condition)
Sleeve: VG+ near EX
(The original 'E.J.Day Group' rear opening gimmix (envelope style) textured single sleeve has some light edgewear rubbing (most noticeable on the top and bottom) and light cornerwear on the four tips. The opening flap with interlocking tab on the rear has minimal wear, its completely intact and untorn, and there are no splits in the hinging part. The spine is solid and straight, perfectly legible and clear, just a few very tiny scuffs present. The front of the sleeve has a few small marks and a couple of rubbing scuffs near the top left side along with some light ringwear. Overall this notoriously fragile sleeve is in near excellent condition and is frankly one of the best examples I have seen on account of its implausibly delicate construction.)

Cat.No. CAS 1033
Matrix No's: A-1U & B-1U
On offer here, from my own collection, is this extremely rare original MARC ELLINGTON 1st pressing vinyl LP titled "RAINS / REINS OF CHANGE" released in 1971 on the UK B&C (Charisma) label.
Marc Ellington "Rains / Reins of Changes" was issued in the UK in 1971 on B&C (Charisma) CAS 1033. This is the 1st and only UK pressing of this magnificent folk/rock LP. On this, his 2nd album, all tracks are Ellington composed originals with the exception of "Blue Suede Shoes" and the trad. arr. "Yarrow" and "Alligator Man".
Marc Ellington was a singer / songwriter whose performances and recordings made a significant contribution to the development of Folk/Rock. His collaborations with members of the Byrds, Fairport Convention and the Flying Burrito Brothers forged an important link between leading musical innovators on both sides of the Atlantic. From 1969 to 1973 Ellington recorded 5 solo LP’s and contributed to recordings by many other artists including Richard and Linda Thompson, Fairport Convention and Matthews Southern Comfort.
Marc Ellington inspired musicianship, great songs and the sheer cast of players featured. Ellington's friendship with Fairport Convention and in particular Richard Thompson resulted in a collection of Fairport alumni on this magnificent recording. Not content with Thompson adding sizzling red hot guitar to many tracks , Daves Pegg and Mattacks together with the late great Sandy Denny also contribute! And this is not to omit Trevor Lucas, Pat Donaldson and Gerry Conway from the then Fotheringay line-up. But the clincher, (not to forget ex Fairporter Ian Matthews), is the presence of most of The Flying Burrito Brothers in the studio, presumably taking time off from some London gigs. Rick Roberts (vocals), Sneaky Pete on pedal steel and, ex Byrd, Chris Hillman (mandolin and vocals), mingle with our finest folk-rockers as if born for the occasion! So, the music can't be anything else but brilliant can it? Among the many highlights are Thompson's fluid yet biting lead guitar on 'Days Used To Be Much Warmer' and the sheer exuberant vocals of 'Oh No! It Can't Be So'. Also just listen to Roberts' and Hillman's heart-rendingly aching chorus on 'All the Times'. The whole album is totally wonderful, a beautiful record indeed, justly regarded by many as a classic of the UK early 70s progressive folk-rock era.
RICHARD THOMPSON, TREVOR LUCAS & SANDY DENNY, TERRY COX, DAVE PEGG, CHRIS HILLMAN, IAN MATTHEWS, DAVE MATTACKS, GORDON HUNTLEY, PAT DONALDSON, GERRY CONWAY, SNEAKY PETE & MORE....
