After the initial press run was released and ignited massive controversy, Dunhill caved in and pulled all copies of the record that featured the “toilet bowl” from the market, replacing them with “censored” covers, showing a canvas-like “scroll” inserted over the offensive toilet.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears is one of the few albums to have three separate covers. The first cover featured the group in a bathroom sitting in a bathtub with a toilet in the corner. The album with this cover was pulled from stores after the toilet was declared indecent. The remaining covers featuring the toilet have since become collector's items. A second album cover was then released with a scroll over the toilet listing the hit songs in the album. A third album cover was later released with a closely cropped shot of the band surrounded by a black border that removed any hint that the picture was taken in a bathroom.

This is an extremely rare cover, and many dealers that have been in the business for years have never even handled a copy.  This is the ONLY copy I've ever seen in person.  It is estimated by some dealers that the censored version outnumbers the uncensored cover AT LEAST 300:1.

GRADING

COVER: VG+ - Little to no wear on the ever so important front panel featuring the uncensored toilet bowl.  The top and bottom of the left seam have 1" splits from crate wear.

RECORD: VG - Some scratching, but overall the surface is clean and glossy.

ALL RECORDS WHICH ARE NOT SEALED ARE CLEANED ON A VPI-17F PROFESSIONAL RECORD CLEANER! THIS IS THE SAME RECORD CLEANER THEY USE AT THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS!

To avoid seam splits during transit, all records are placed in brand new poly-lined inner sleeves shipped outside of the jacket, and placed into a resealable poly sleeve. The old inner sleeve will be placed inside of the jacket.

All records and laserdiscs will be wrapped in bubble wrap, and shipped in a Uline 13" x 13" x 2" box with filler paper.

All records are graded using the Goldmine grading standards.
