Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. One of the most well-known rock groups from Continental Europe, Denmark's Savage Rose recorded a wealth of intriguing and eclectic progressive rock in the late '60s and '70s. In their early work, one hears faint echoes of the Airplane, Doors, Pink Floyd, and other psychedelic heavyweights combined with classical Danish-jazz/blues elements. Their arrangements rely heavily on an incandescent, watery organ that sounds like nothing so much as psychedelic aquarium music. The most striking aspect of the band's sound, however, was the vocals of lead singer Annisette. Her childish wispy and sensual phrasing can suddenly break into jarring, almost histrionic wailing, like a Janis Joplin with Yoko Ono-isms.
This extraordinary band from Denmark is really one of the best hidden secrets of rock. Over the yarrs they have gone through many phases, but whatever the task they set themselves, it was always handled in the most excellent way. "Refugee", which was produced by Jimmy Miller of Traffic and Rolling Stones fame, is the band (in its early incarnation) at its best. Every song a highlight. The playing is subtle with the very solid foundation laid by drummer Alex Riel, considered one of the finest danish jazzdrummers, although it could be said that the American sessionguitarist John Urebe seems a bit lost at times.
The songs are so diverse with standout cuts and perhaps the greatest moments come in the two extremely well-crafted ballads "Granny's Grave" and "Dreamland", where 'King Death is in command', sung with spinetingling intensity by Annisette.
The album opens with the strong straight-forward rocker "Revival Day" - great song and one of their very best rocking songs. Another stand-out is "Dear Little Mother", which is classical Savage Rose; beautiful and melodic. Note that this is a different version from the one on "Triumph of Death"
Many years ago Lester Bangs in Rolling Stone Magazine cited this album as a reason to keep believing in the magic and life force of rock and roll. The years have done nothing whatsoever to diminsh its power.
