Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.

- *** THE 1968 first pressing ***
- SUPER- CLEAN SURVIVOR,
- Original 1968 first pressing of the timeless & classic psychedelic garage creation by K A L E I D O S C O P E ... long running in holy grail USA psychedelic collectibles, early on (psych) enthusiasts (before internet connections) put this album right up to their first two 13th Floor Elevator albums
- Wielding a battery of exotic instruments once adorning a thrift-shop front window in the sixties (bazouki, oud, vina, saz, doumbeg), the Kaleidoscope was every bit as multi-hued and subject-to-change as the telescope full of bright bits of colored glass the band was named after.
- If there had been a prize for the most eclectic psychedelic outfit, Los Angeles' Kaleidoscope would have had it stashed on a shelf-between the hookah pipes and the bowling trophies-in the band's rehearsal space.
- Formed by multi-instrumentalists David Lindley and Chris Darrow, with a membership that also included grop founder and multi-instrumentalist Solomon Feldthouse and multi-instrumentalists Max Buda, aka Chester Crill and Fenrus Epp (all the same person!) along with drummer John Vidican, this wildly experimental and gifted outfit pioneered what would become the world-music genre by darting deftly between rock, folk, blues, Cajun, rural, Middle Eastern, dark ballads and Eastern European styles, with plenty of full-blown psychedelia on the side. It's an exotically diverse approach, explored to great effect on 1968's A Beacon from Mars, Kaleidoscope's second LP (the working title for the album was "Bacon from Mars").
- Just float your head through the buoyant, sprawling, mystical title track; the driving, raga-esque "Taxim"; or the graceful opener, "I Found Out," which unfolds like the tender petals of a young rose.
- Remaining cuts like “I Found Out,” “Greenwood Sidee” and “Life Will Pass You By” are exciting roots excursions that mix folk, rural and psychedelia into something that’s genuine and authentic. Other than being a standout acid folk-rocker, “I Found Out” is also notable for a cool dobro solo and what sounds like primitive synthesizer. Another great track is the excellent Smokestack Lightning rewrite “You Don’t Love Me.” This track features incredible graffiti-like lead guitar (with lots of bluesy fuzz) while the aforementioned “Life Will Pass You By” is a beautiful Byrds-like folk-rocker with accomplished finger picking (think Byrds crossed with early Nitty Gritty Dirt Band). Elsewhere, “Baldheaded End Of A Broom is good time jug-band music.” Of the best of the batch is “Greenwood Sidee.” A track that is actually an Irish murder mesmerizer, a tremendous one at that, with stone-face vocals and an eerie acidic vibe -no doubt aided by effective fiddle work. This is still one many collectors favorite Lp's ...
- Beacon from Mars is an album no fan of '60s West Coast psych can afford to miss!
