Boa Constrictor and Natural Vine were a psych-folk duo who recorded this, their sole record, for Vanguard Apostolic.
Given the current vogue for acid-folk we're suprised this one is not better known, though IS really obscure. It has all the elements one looks for in that genre and few others as well. There are some really deranged, acid-drenched compositions like Devil & the Ace of Spades (with its backward tape loops, mornful reeds, and downer guitar strumming) as well as dissonant, freaky, rocking, blues numbers like Time is Money. Their music, while it owes something to other folk-experimentalists from the late 60s is also inspired by classic, rural blues and at times they come off as a sort of hippie ancestor of a garage-blues-rock sound. Everything on here is as raw as you'd like and twice as natural sounding. The guys have an actual band with bass and drums. A mixed psychy bag with influences ranging from Tim Buckley, Incredible String Band, to Captain Beefheart...and even Tony Joe White. CONDITION: The cover is MINT still in factory shrink wrap from 40+ years ago and little seen, especially in this shape...no splitr seams, no bends, no writing and well cared for...
