Obscure and long rare limited edition from many years ago...original vinyl first pressing... collectible then, way collectible now...
The Project-Obejct limited edition claims to be "phase two of Conceptual Continuity". It has a cover very similar to the similar Lp "Conceptual Continuity, " and may have been issued by the same 'company", but phase two of that album is actually issued as Marvellous Stunner. "Project-Object" was released some 30 years ago. When Zappa wrote the phrase himself, he would write it "Project/Object".
- The "Prelude To Bobby Brown" track is some kind of keyboard work from "A Pound for a Brown on the Bus", some of which is probably compsed by Peter Wolf.
- "Moe's Vacation" track is the early stages of "Mo & Herb's Vacation", a shorter version for drums, bass and marimba (exquisite!).
- "I Have Been in You" has a long intro similar to the one on Stage #6, "Is This Guy Kidding or What".
- "Little House I Used to Live In" is the orchestrated intro from "Little House I Used to Live in" followed by a vocal improvisation by Tommy Mars, a bit of a drum solo and a fade-out.
- Best of all, "Project Object" was rated at number 6 best of all time Zappa 'rarity' Lp's:
"Another worthwhile addition would be the single LP of the September 21 1978 Poughkeepsie, NY gig titled Project-Object on the famous Mudshark label. It's on stereo soundboard, featuring new nice versions of "Conehead", "Little House I Used to Live in" and "Yo' Mama". The total running time is about 41 minutes."
