Description

ITEM DESCRIPTION: Here Comes Louis Smith LP by Louis Smith on Blue Note Records (#BLP 1584) from 1958.  Record does have some scratches and scuffs, but is is play-graded in VG condition.  Sleeve is in VG+ condition (some fading and a few marks).  This is a unique chance to own a first issue of one of the rarest Blue Note LPs.  This is the original US pressing, as shown by an "ear" and RVG stamped in the dead wax, and the A- and B-side labels have the 47 W 63rd address.
Great supporting musicians: Cannonball Adderley (credited as "Buckshot La Funke") on alto saxophone, Tommy Flanagan or Duke Jordan on piano, Doug Watkins on bass, and Art Taylor on drums.
I have included links below to short excerpts of each song, to give you a better idea of the condition.

CHECK OUT my other auctions, as I will combine shipping for multiple wins.  I will be selling off many rare jazz records from my personal collection over the next few weeks!!  All photos are of the actual item.  PLEASE READ MY DESCRIPTIONS CAREFULLY, as I take great care to describe items accurately.  In a few cases I include extra photos to show specific issues with the cover, etc., but in most cases I simply describe them verbally (please let me know if you want more detailed pics or info about anything you notice in the listing).
Some records have been play-graded, though most have been graded visually (listings will indicate which was used, and see below for my system).  I try to grade conservatively, and if I have any doubts I use the lower rating.  If you have ANY issues whatsoever with items after they arrive, please CONTACT ME before leaving feedback and I will work with you to resolve the problem.  Feel free to contact me with any questions before the auction ends!

PLAY GRADING OF RECORD CONDITION:  EX:  Background noise is kept to a very low level and does not interfere with the music.  VG+:  Background noise can be heard clearly during quiet passages, but the record is very listenable overall, and noise is not present during loud passages.  VG:  Clearly audible background noise is present during quiet and medium passages, but the record sounds good during loud passages.  G:  Very noisy throughout, but it is still possible to hear the music.  Note that ratings apply only to background noise (“clicks and pops”).  I check for other defects (skips, warping) and indicate them separately if I notice them.

VISUAL GRADING OF RECORD CONDITION:  SEALED:  Record is still in the original un-opened shrink-wrap and has never been played.  Any severe warping is noted, but mild warps can sometimes not be detected until after opening.  EX:  Record is glossy and looks like it has barely been played, with no obvious scratches or other defects.  VG+:  Record has minor defects such as several light scratches or a large scratch.  VG:  Record has obvious problems such as heavy scratching or a small chip out of the edge, but probably sounds good during loud passages.  G:  Record plays, but with major problems.

GRADING OF COVER CONDITION:  EX:  The cover has no obvious defects.  VG+:  The cover has one or two small problems, such as fading, marks, or light creases.  VG:  There are many small problems or a more serious defect, such as a cut-out, large hole-punch, or seam split.  G:  The cover is seriously damaged, but nearly the whole thing is there and most of it can be read.
