Description
Lightnin Slim Rooster Blues Mono LP on Excello
Lightnin’ Slim – “Rooster Blues” (Excello 8000). One of the really tough and desirable blues LPs. Slim was born Otis V. Hicks in St. Louis, Missouri, moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of thirteen. Taught guitar by his older brother Layfield, Slim was playing in bars in Baton Rouge by the late 1940s. He debuted on J. D. "Jay" Miller's Feature Records label in 1954 with "Bad Luck Blues" and then recorded for Excello Records for twelve years, starting in the mid 1950s, often collaborating with his brother-in-law, Slim Harpo and with harmonica player Lazy Lester. Thi9s 1960 Lp features Slim on 12 cuts, including “Rooster Blues”, “Long Leanie Mama”, “My Starter Won’t Work”, “GI Slim”, “Lightnin’s Troubles”, “Bed Bug Blues”, “Hoo Doo Blues”, “It’s Mighty Crazy”, “Sweet Little Woman”, “Tom Cat Blues”, “Feelin Awful Blues”, and “I’m Leavin’ You Baby.” Guaranteed original. Record is in VG- to VG condition (has a few light surface scratches and scuffs but plays nice). Cover has 4 inch top seam split and 1 inch bottom seam split. Postage will be paid by purchaser.
