Description

LES BEATLES - 1965
This genuine original 1st pressing of their rarest and most sought-after French LP dates from initial December 1964 release

With the same tracks as the U.K. 'Beatles For Sale' LP, it is on the orange & black Odeon label: OSX 228

Matrix numbers: XAR 809 21 & XAR 810 21

Vinyl weight: 141g

Housed within outer laminated gatefold sleeve with die-cut circular front panel, complete with the rarest type insert for this release

The thin reverse-printed plastic sheet on the insert was designed to be peeled from its backing card and constructed into a lamp-shade, as illustrated on the instructions printed on the back of the card.

Remarkably few survived intact and this idea was quickly dropped and replaced my a more conventional photo insert card.

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT +

Clean & unblemished with a few faint spindle trails around each unworn centre hole only.

Visual: VERY GOOD +

Clean, glossy & unworn playing surfaces bearing just a handful of very light surface marks and a few light hairlines in strong daylight. Close inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals little more than some harmless wispy paper hairlines but little else of significance.

Sound Quality: VERY GOOD

This great sounding pressing has received a moderate amount of careful play and is without any major deterioration to the sound quality. My single careful playcheck at volume detected an occasional light click together with some light background between tracks and during some of the album's quieter moments. My stylus repeated on one groove on 'Baby's In Black', but this may not occur on another system.

Cover: VERY GOOD -

A respectable example of this extremely fragile cover which bears moderate storagewear throughout. There is a 1.5cm tear in the 3 o'clock position to the front central window but no other major faults there. There is shelfwear to the corners and lower edge but no splits to any.

Both panels of the inside of the gatefold are clean & unblemished - free from any writing or missing paper

The rear panel is clean & bright with light storage wear only.

There is some paper & lettering missing from the spine but it is fully intact and attached along its entire length.

Insert: VERY GOOD -

As you can see some of the transfer print has been scratched/worn off from storage, but no attempt has been made to peel it from its delicate backing paper. A name has been written on the rear of the card. Impossible to find in any condition.
