Description

Lee Morgan on Blue Note 1541

 

This is the original deep-groove RVG-etched “P”-pressing of Lee Morgan “Sextet” on the Lexington Avenue labels of Blue Note BLP 1541.  The flat-rim playing surface is in near-new condition, with a beautiful luster; the Side 1 rim has a slight warp that does not affect playback in any way: in fact, the tone arm shows no movement; two tics near the beginning of Side 1; perhaps played once.  The frame coated Lexington Avenue cover is clean throughout, with norman age toning on the left edge of the back slick; the top seam shows ¼” wear at the opening and small areas of superficial flaking; the bottom seam has light rubbing and a 1” split at the opening; light rubbing along the spine. Personnel include Hank Mobley, Kenny Rodgers, Horace Silver, Paul Chambers, and Charlie Persip.
