Description

This is very nice copy of the audiophile pressing of Led Zeppelin II , issued by MFSL in 1982 and pressed in Japan by JVC (Japan Victor Company) on virgin vinyl (vinyl is translucent as light passes through). This LP was purchased by me used a number of years ago and was played sparingly, only as a source for tape recording. This is very rare and sought after LP with near mint copies having a book value of $100.

As to grading, I grade very conservatively following Goldmine Record grading standard. Except that for records that are a notch below near mint, rather than VG ++, I prefer to use grade of Excellent. I do not use VG++ grade in addition to Excellent grade as is done by some.

Visually this album is in excellent very clean condition. The LP is being graded from very good to very good plus condition due to play grade as specified. The reason for the grade is that on Side 1, there are 3 or so very light ticks right at the beginning of the 2d cut but I heard almost nothing on the first cut or any other part of Side 1. On Side 2 on first cut there is few ticks during the softer passage in middle of first cut. There are also few light tics in the middle of Moby Dick during drum solo and at the very beginning of last cut on Side 2. Living Loving Maidens and Ramble On play very nicely. Testing was done using headphones. My overall impression is the album is still a very enjoyable listen .The  only visual blemishes that I could see was a barely visible light mark on side one stretching from the first cut and ending in the middle of the 3rd cut. On Side 2 there is also mark that extends from beginning of one side to just beyond the dead wax through the other side. It appear that the needle skated through the label to cause this blemish.. None of these blemishes can be felt . Please note that this was cleaned before testing which was done few weeks before listing and done by hand and not machine. It should be cleaned again before listening. The cover is in very good condition. There is a about a 1.5  inch split towards the middle of the spine of the cover  which has been neatly tape repaired. There is also a seam split of about 2 inches at the lower corner at the mouth. There is some light seam wear/spotting on the seams and spine, but no seam splits on the top seam. .The product information is clearly readable on the spine. There is very slight ring wear on the front and back of cover. There is slight corner wear at all corners. There is also slight chipping on the front of the cover near the middle of the mouth area. There color on the front and back covers is still very nice
