Cover Info Led Zeppelin: Solo Performances One Lucifer Rising (22 min) "This moody, quiet piece comes from the Kenneth Anger film of the same title. Jimmy Page was commisioned (sic) to write the piece in 1973 and began work later that year after completion of Led Zeppelins (sic) American tour. Page plays all music by himself, most of which was done on an electric guitar being run through an early ARP synthesizer. An incomplete version of the film was premiered in Los Angeles in September 1976, from which this recording comes. It is rumoured that the beginning of the Zeppelin track "In The Evening" is taken from this source." Two You Better Run (2:30) Everybody's Gonna Say (2:12) Our Song (2:30) Laughin', Cryin', Laughin' (2:23) Long Time Coming (2:31) I've Got A Secret (3:08) "These tracks all feature Robert Plant on vocals at the age of 18, a full two years prior to joining Led Zeppelin. In mid 1966, Plant was offered a recording contract while gigging around Birmingham, England. He left for London, and later that year recorded these six songs with backup provided by studio musicians. The first two songs were released as a single by the fictional group LISTEN. It featured "You Better Run", an old Young Rascals tune (most recently covered by Pat Benatar) and "Everybody's Gonna Say" which was co-written by Plant. The single was released in late 1966, and was a commercial flop. The remaining tracks were released as two Robert Plant solo singles in March and September, 1967, and again went nowhere. As Robert Plant says: "The only copies ever sold were the ones me mum bought." After garnering few sales Plant returned to Birmingham to re-form the Band Of joy with John Bonham, a springboard for what was to become the legendary Led Zeppelin" Seller's Notes: Not much else needs saying. The vinyl is good, the Page work is psychotic and scary, no surprise, and the Plant stuff is probably like what the The Monkeys sounded like before they were The Monkeys. You're not likely to play this for your friends, unless they're Zeppelin freaks like us. PLAYED ONLY ON AUDIOPHILE EQUIPMENT: REGA PLANAR TURNTABLE, GRADO CARTRIDGE
