Up for bid is an extremely rare Test Press LP, "In Through the Out Door," by Led Zeppelin. This is a very rare, possibly one of a kind Led Zeppelin collectable item. Both interior labels are white, with "Test Pressing from Specialty Records Corporation" printed at the top of the center of each interior label. The date written on side one is 7-12-79. Etched matrix numbers read ST-SS 794345 - C SP / ST-SS-794346- C SP with "STRAWBERRY" stamped on either side in the matrix area. LP is VG+, with scuffs on either side. LP plays with some surface noise (crackle and tics). LP is in a paper interior sleeve, which is stored in a white cardboard sleeve. Written on the front of the cardboard sleeve in blue ink is "Led Zeppelin - In Through the Out Door - STUDIO," with a large "C" in the center of the front.
I was recently asked if I knew if this was an approved mix by Zeppelin prior to release. My best guess is yes, this is the approved version (I cannot guarantee that). According to wikipedia, this album was recorded November - December 1978, at Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. Following the recording sessions at Polar Studios, the album was mixed at Jimmy Page's personal studio at his home in Plumpton. This LP was officially released August 15, 1979 and this test press has a date on it just one month prior to release (7-12-79). I would think that with one month prior to release that at this point they they would be providing a test press of the final mix before they mass produced it. (I provided this explanation as an edit and not posted below because my previous answer had links to the wikipedia articles, which are not allowed in the description anymore).
