Description
Selling several duplicated copies over the next while, from a large Led Zeppelin collection, mainly from my late Father’s record shop in the 1960s and 70s. Please save me if you’re interested in more rarities.
A very rare version 1, A3/B3 matrix example of this legendary Led Zeppelin 4th album.
All LPs play tested during the pandemic, which I’ll now repeat before selling. See detailed audio notes below.

I’ll endeavour to honestly grade the record according to the
RECORD COLLECTOR'S GRADING SYSTEM shown below.
Mint
Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent
Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good
Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good
Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
CONDITION: Please use the photos as well as reading the description.
COVER: VG. Some wear to edges and corners. Scratches on front and rear. Slight staining.
INNER: VG. Creased with a dent on side. Small splits to sides and bottom. Generic inner from May 1971 (5-71) used since record was nearly new has saved it from further splitting. Modern inner sleeve supplied too.
LABELS: VG+. Clean and bright. Several spindle marks on side 1. Several more on side 2. A few tiny white marks under close inspection.
VINYL: VG+. Looks great in normal bright daylight. Tried to show a few light marks, mainly sleeve removal marks, more apparent under intense sunlight. Slight short wobble on outer edge, nothing serious, small effect of the audio at the start of both sides.
AUDIO: Subjected to critical listening on a decent and very revealing system (Rega P6/ND7, Cyrus XR, ProAc D30RS) at -37dB (about 78dB)
VG overall assessment. Quote: “displays no MAJOR deterioration in sound quality”
Side1 Track 1
Record edge wobble causes speaker woofer to react every revolution decreasing over approximately 90 seconds. First 10 seconds is just audible. Nothing else of note. Still gave it EX
T2
Nothing of note. EX+
Crackle between T2 & T3
T3
Light crackle on first 30 seconds of intro. Very faint almost hidden 2 ticks after halfway. Nothing else of note. EX
T4
Very light random background noise during intro. Light background crackle during most verses plus 2 ticks. Few seconds of distortion just before final guitar solo with very light crackle occasionally during the last half of the track. Almost silent background during final lyrics. VG
Side2 Track 1
Noisy deadwax before the track starts. Wobble causes speaker woofer to react every revolution decreasing over approximately 90 seconds. First 10 seconds is just audible. Very little else of note. VG+
T2
Nothing of note. EX+
T3
Few seconds of very light crackle midway. Few seconds of very light crackle near the end. Nothing else of note. EX
T4
I have 6nr. LZ4 with the B3 matrix. Most T4s play a bit “hotter” than my other B4 matrix versions. This probably creates some “natural”distortion at times on this LP but still an enjoyable listen.
Nothing else of note. EX
Subjectively, further, non-analytical listening ( ie. relaxing with a few beers) confirms this is a copy of this LP that I still find to be an enjoyable listen. Hopefully you will too.
No AI involved in composing this posting just decades of experience through buying, owning and loving records since 1972.
Will be securely packaged in a recycled Musicmax QP2 record carton. If you strongly believe my description is misleading, please return it in the condition you found it.
