Led Zeppelin’s fourth (and some would say best) album, catalogue No. 2401012 on the Atlantic Red/Plum label. A superb example of this original 1971 UK pressing. This has the famous ‘Pecko Duck’ and ‘Porky’ etchings in the run off grooves on each side and there is also the rarer ‘Misty Mountain TOP’ mis-spelling on the label of side two. As with all these early Zeppelin pressings the power they got into those grooves is astonishing ! This pressing has a tremendous power and presence that surges out of the speakers and (very pleasantly) kicks you in the aural senses !! Bonzo’s drums are always a revelation and here it feels like you’re right there with him when He’s pounding out ‘Four Sticks’ and ‘When The Levee Breaks’. The detail and clarity of the quieter passages in ‘Stairway’ and ‘The Battle Of Evermore’ are nothing less than wonderful. There is NO surface noise. Amazing for a 36 year old record. Play it at number 11 and hear why its one of the best albums ever made by any band anywhere !! Amazing !! The vinyl has a COMPLETELY UNMARKED, mirror like appearance and sounds every bit as good as it looks. It has got to grade at least as NEAR MINT ! The sleeve is in great condition also. There is no absolutely NO WEAR apparent on the edges apart from the bottom left corner and a few light creases on the rear - and I’m being hyper critical here. The spine is perfect and the colours are still as good as the day they were printed. The soft card inner sleeve is also in fine order apart from about a 6cm split at the bottom. Very common for this particular inner. Lastly, the labels. Again the colours are as bright and vibrant as they were in 71’. There are minimal spindle marks and NO SPINDLE WEAR to the centre hole whatsoever, indicating little use. The disc has no warping and sits perfectly flat on the turntable. I have never seen or heard a better copy of this record. A fantastic example of an awesome record by an awesome band captured at the height of their powers !! You WILL NOT be disappointed !!
