Description
For sale is the extremely rare original 1st press variant Led Zeppelin III.
Rare 1970 UK 1st Press variant on the Atlantic Plum/Red label.
Catalogue number 2401-002.
Earliest A5 /B5 hand etched matrixes.
"Do what though wilt" and "So mote it be" hand etchings on the run offs.
E.J. Day sleeve made in London and Bedford.
Celebration Day misprinted as Celebration.
The vinyl is in excellent plus condition with no scratches or hairlines and retaining a deep lustre. Only sleeve removal scuffs apparent under strong sunlight.
Play tested audio.
There are no skips, jumps or pops when played. Little to none background noise.
Both labels are clear, with some mild residue from the inner sleeve apparent under strong raking light.
This record has been cleaned ultrasonically and has been placed in a clean pvc lined inner sleeve with the original inner sleeve included.
I've graded the sleeve as excellent plus but it could pass for near mint!
It looks fantastic, really clean and retaining a brilliant shine.
The wheel is present and spins nicely.
The spine is as good as it gets, clear text with no damage.
Very light rounding to sleeve corners.
Original inner sleeve is clean but with some creasing.
Shipping will be by FedEx, insured and a record mailer and stiffeners will be used.

I use the Record Collector's grading system giving separate condition ratings for the Vinyl and Sleeve:
(near Mint (NM) - A nearly perfect record. Has more than likely been played few times or not at all, and the vinyl will show no imperfections during playback. Sleeve will have no more than the most minor defects. The same is true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, etc.
Excellent (EX) -The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Sleeve may have slight wear or creasing
Very Good (VG) - The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Sleeve, normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable.
Good (GD) - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. Sleeve suffers from folding, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
