Description
Led Zeppelin "Led Zeppelin III" Vinyl LP made in Great Britain pressed in 1970 "Executive Producer: Peter Grant" is listed on labels. Aleister Crowley quotes are on the dead wax.
The glossy outer jacket is in OK shape, with only a few areas of scuffing, a few areas where the gloss layer is wrinkling on the upper right and lower left rear and with just a few small areas of ball point pen ghost indents also on the rear, some small spots of tea or coffee stains on or around Jimmy Page's face, some minor minor wrinkles in the cardboard itself that are too hard to photograph and on the inside the cardboard on the right side has separated from the gatefold near the spine. The jacket still is intact to contain the record however and works fine for that. Spine label says: "Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin III Atlantic De Luxe 2401 002". There is an old paper inner sleeve and it is split on ea. side.

This is the very first edition of many different 1970 versions of this particular record, specifically because of what is printed on the labels.
Dead wax: Do what thou wilt 2401002 A 7 GP(arrow), So mote it be 2401002 B-5 g4C
The last three letters in the dead wax on ea. side are difficult to make out as they are very light and hand written, as are the numbers above but those are heavier and more legible. There are machine pressed numbers in reverse: "11 6" on side 1 & "11 7" on side 2 respectively.
This record is in G to VG but mainly G with many hairline marks on the wax on each side with some quieter acoustic passages having appreciable tics and pops in the quieter parts. In some louder parts there are also noticeable tics and noise as well. That said, there are no skips and it plays all the way through on each side.

Listening to this again, it is closer to half G and half VG. The VG parts are the louder parts. The G parts are in the quieter sections.
This record in my opinion sounds very close to what was later restored in the first remaster series done in 1990. Some of the LZ 1980s vinyl pressings were lacking in full 3d definition compared to this version and some of the later 1970s vinyl releases. 80s LZ pressings also suffered some quality control issues. The 1990 remaster restored the audio closer to what this pressing sounds like.
*That this is a first pressing that plays through is a really cool historical artifact, albeit with some pops and tics.
P.S. I've been with ebay a long time. I miss the days when everything was an auction. BIN has changed it such that items can be listed for much more than they are worth. I'm hoping by describing this listen as G/VG that the price will be fair and not out of proportion. When I bought this many years ago it was described as VG, which I don't think is right. That said, the hammer of the gods will come through your speakers with this record. I've had it for over 20 years and only played it a few times.
