Description
Led Zeppelin I - Rare first press with Turquoise lettering and Atlantic logo. Superhype credits on label and 588171 A//1 and 588171 B//1 matrix numbers.
As you will know if you have got this far, this is a very rare record and tends to fetch in region of £1,500 in top condition. This is not in top condition so represents an opportunity to add this record to your collection at a reasonable price.
The vinyl and cover are both in Fair condition
First the good news - although there are numerous scratches the record plays through with no jumps (all bar the runout groove on side one which is damaged), at least it does on my system (nothing special - Thorens TD125 / SME 3009 S2 with Ortofon 2M Red tracking at a standard 1.8gm). As you will appreciate different systems may track better or worse, so I cannot guarentee play back on your system.
The cover is complete with no significant tears although bottom seam has come unstuck.
Now the not so good news - As I say the vinyl is very scratched with two large scratches on side two, but the record still plays and sounds good.
Both side one and side two labels have writing on them (shown in photos).
The front cover has been written on in 7 places (again shown in photos. The back cover has one piece of writting but is otherwise clean.
Overall this is in pretty poor condition, would grade Fair by Record Collector Grading Guide
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
As I say this then represents an opportunity to own this rare record and piece of history at a realistic price. I am not sure how much this is worth in this condition hence low starting price and no reserve - it gets what it gets.
