Layla is often overlooked in the Australian Hip-Hop scene but she is a prominent member of the Syllabolix crew and worthy of a lot more attention then she gets. Heretik was her debut release and it's superbly venomous, her battle-esque lyrics are on point but she's also capable of being introspective. Her lead single The Fuss About Sluts goes into detail about the lack of respect women have for themselves but in a way that isn't preachy or jaded, Layla is as aggressive as any male rapper. The production is fantastic, handled by Layla's partner in crime Dazastah (of Downsyde) particularly for any fans of Mortar's dark, dank hip-hop beats and suit her delivery well. As testament to her skills, she's also roped in the whole Syllabolix family for feature spots across the whole 17 track release.
