LUDUS: THE SEDUCTION (1981), NEW HORMONES ORG 16, UK, 45RPM, Double 12" 12inch

"The Seduction" is the first full-length album by English post-punk band Ludus, released in 1981 by cult Manchester record label New Hormones (pressed in France). The album, considered by many to be the band's masterpiece, contains some of Ludus' most accessible and melodic songs, as well as some of their most adventurous work. In keeping with the band's penchant for experimentation and unusual song structures, the album's key track, "Herstory", practically consists of variations on 4 different songs (including the track 5 of this album, "Inheritance", and two previously released songs, "Mutilate" and "Mother's Hour"), sliding effortlessly one into another. The album also contains an extended, 6 minutes long version of the previous single, "My Cherry Is In Sherry".

Singer, lyricist and illustrator Linder is famous for designing the classic first single covers of the Buzzcocks and being an influence on and close friend of Morrissey. "The Seduction" is jazzy, punky, absolutely unique! "AllMusic" called the album "the band's career high point". This here is the ORIGINAL release of "The Seduction", first pressing - as a double EP on 12" vinyl. The album has been re-released along with the band's debut EP "The Visit" as the compilation "The Visit/The Seduction". But, as "AllMusic" rightly criticizes, "The Seduction" isn't properly showcased in the re-release: instead of the extended six-minute version of "My Cherry Is in Sherry" on the original double-EP release of "The Seduction", the 2:38 single mix is in the re-release. In the other direction, "Herstory" is presented in the re-release in a previously unreleased extended version. So the only way to have the real, original "The Seduction", is to obtain a rare copy of the original!

Rare original Double 12" with plastic outer sleeve and 4 page insert! Cover 1 has very light ring wear and some small creases on the edges, Cover 2 has minimal wear and ring wear (see pictures) = E

The insert has one small stain (0.5 cm), the plastic outer sleeve has some cracks and notches at the top and bottom, discoloration at the spine and some bent edges.

The two records are Near Mint in two of the four sides, on the other two sides there is occasional fizz or crackling on two of the four tracks, still excellent. Overall = E
