Shoegaze has produced plenty of cult records, though few have gathered quite the reputation of this one. Released in 2007 after Northern California's LSD And The Search For God had spent a couple of years building word-of-mouth through hypnotic live shows, the EP remains a remarkably complete statement. The move from 'This Time's' swirling guitars into the hazy melancholy of 'I Don't Care', then onwards through 'Starting Over' and the luminous closer 'Starshine', explains much of its enduring appeal. Comparisons to My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive were unavoidable yet these songs possess their own strange gravity. Still sounding beautifully detached from ordinary notions of time and place, nearly two decades on.
