This record has been cleaned and played through completely both sides on a Thorens Turntable as well as visually inspected under a bright halogen desk lamp to provide an accurate grading.
LP’s are packed outside their covers to guard against ring-wear & splits during transit and then placed inside a plastic outer protective sleeve for safe delivery.

CONDITION
VINYL : terrific / shiny throughout and tracks along brilliantly with no skips / a few odd light scuff marks however both sides play through fine with no pops and pretty hard to fault sound-wise …certainly not overly played and worthy of an EX easily … probably a touch better in fact which, for this rarity, is quite a find.LABELS : Clean except for a very faint number in pencil on each side (219 and 222) at lower right as per photo above.
GATE-FOLD SLEEVE : a superb laminated gate-fold cover here / when this does turn up on auction more often than not there is pronounced lifting of the laminate along the edges for some reason …fortunately it is only minimal here though there are sporadic patches on the back however all the laminate is intact / no writing, splits or marks and the spine is intact / no edge-wear and the corners are square as well …hard to find a better example and most impressive.
DESCRIPTION
A wonderful original and very rare copy from Melbourne hard-psych-RnB rock outfit Freeway who only ever released 2 singles and this album in 1975.Information on the band is relatively obscure though the line-up was :
Steve Welch (guitars), Criston Barker (bass, vocals), Frank Chic (lead vocals, percussion), Bill Lincoln (drums), John Grant (keyboards, clarinet) later Phil Manning Band, Roger Delfos (guitar).
Barker later played with Hush, Sidewinder, Ash and Hollywood while John Grant played with the Phil Manning Band.
When they first formed legendary guitarist Peter Laffy (ex-Fox) was at the helm though he left before this rather impressive album was recorded. Produced by Jim Keays, "Riding High" is a breezy and smooth affair with plenty of piano, organ and female backup vocals melding flawlessly with solid rock bits.
Described as ‘crunchy’ in all the right places with plenty of ‘Southern Rock’ style twin leads while in other parts the group explores RnB and hard rock … some interesting psych breaks thrown in as well. This all results in a bit of a mixed-bag though with top-notch production it all seems to work rather well giving it a great progressive feel.
By no means an easy album to acquire these days let alone in such great condition.
