LP 1961 Funky Jazz Perri Lee Trio Night at Count Basies Mono Roulette RARE!

Rare little jazz number here .. we don't think you'll find another one on Ebay. 1961 Mono from the smokey NYC night club and a man who should know Count Basie himself. Vinyl presents with numerous surface marks and scuffs to warrant the big minus. They vary in surface intensity but wishing them away just doesn't work. Side 2 is in better shape overall but also has a prominent X surface scuff/mark. There are also an occasional pressing 'pimple' or two. This record has certainly been previously enjoyed no doubt accompanied by cocktails. It will still provide pleasure but with some audible noise. Side-A label has a record store rubber ink stamp .. a pet peeve of ours but little we can do. The outer sleeve is a VG+ with a bit of transfer and a small abrasion and very minor small split TLC .. holding its own though and looks pretty good for the age. All in all a scarce Jazz Record that is quite playable, if not entirely unmarred, and will enable you to see what all the fuss (funk) was about.

Record Grading

Unless expressly noted in special circumstances, all photos are of the actual record you will receive! In selling records on Ebay vs. our shop we tend to grade conservatively to avoid hassles as you can't "see for yourself". And guess what? We actually write all our own descriptions as we feel that actual HUMANS reviewing your previously used record is essential to the process! What a concept as we regularly review the ridiculous and absurd and hugely overwhelming numbers of sellers using Ebays AI description train wreck. Not only is the nauseatingly superfluous language beyond annoying people let it spit out the condition of their records .. no wonder it's no man's land out there. Beware anyone too lazy to even write their own descriptions! New stuff maybe .. used stuff?? We visually grade records under bright light at various angles and have no desire to "stretch" the truth of a records condition .. it is what it is! We sometimes clean records on our expensive machine cleaner .. but not always. Typically lint, dust, thumbprints, etc are not considered in grading. Neither are Manufacturer or Distributor punch or drill holes or “saw” marks on yesterdays "cut-outs" but they are usually noted. Grading follows how you first encounter a record: Outer Sleeve / Vinyl. Example: EX/VG indicates EX for the outer sleeve and VG for the vinyl. We do not "grade" inner sleeves but may mention them in our notes. Grading is generally subjective and we call attention to anything we think is important ... what follows is a general guide. We don't guarantee pressing chronologies but do our best to supply and validate this information ... it can be overwhelming for certain big market bands. A note about photos of records: we determine this based on the need for it .. vinyl records are notoriously hard to photograph/capture defects as they tend to look great unless you really work with the light (Ebay buyer beware!). So we don't go bonkers on a million photos unless there's a real need. In our opinion, descriptions from trustworthy sellers are much more valuable for the vinyl portion, hint: READ DESCRIPTIONS and pay attention to little pluses and minuses. Records may be shipped outside their sleeve.

SE [SEALED]: Product still has the original Manufacturers shrink wrap and has not been opened; Note: This does not always mean the underlying product is "MINT" in every aspect but usually it is. Sealed items can still have shelf-wear, corner bumps, etc. One drawback: you can't always indicate the pressing or variaton with no access to matrices, labels, etc. NM [Near Mint]: We don't use Mint as we tend to think nothing really is. This is our top designation and indicates a record or sleeve in beautiful condition that looks almost new. It was probably played once or twice by its original owner. It may or may not have its original shrink and can have minor shelf wear. Vinyl looks unplayed. EX [Excellent]: A presentation that is excellent but does not meet our NM criteria. Vinyl may have very minor paper scuffs, a surface hair line or two that won't cause audible noise, is usually “bright and glossy” [see our notes below]. Labels are clean with very little if any wear at the spindle holes. Outer sleeves may have a ding or two or very minor abrasions but are bright and clean with no splits or wear. Artwork shows to maximum intent. The overall look and feel (and sound) is "excellent" a copy you're proud to own. VG-| VG |VG+/++
[Very Good ..]: By far the biggest area of the "bell curve" for used records the basic VG is a noticeably played record with some surface scratches, scuffs or other artifacts that will generate audible noise but won't overpower the music or produce "skips". Scratches are generally of the surface variety, but a record that is mostly very clean yet has maybe 1 track marred by a deeper scratch will find itself here. Outer Sleeves show wear which may be corner or ring wear, various degrees of splits can be observed, some writing is possible, price stickers or old sticker "rash", "scotch-tape" repairs, etc. Labels may have wear, spindle holes can be worn, inserts or special items may be missing, and inner sleeves can be rough if not replaced. The "-" and "+" designations denote variations on this theme and the degree to which the record suffers these problems .. our VG+ is still a pretty great record in very good condition especially if its of the rarer variety. VG- on the other hand has been well played or relatively uncared for. Straight VG is middle of the road. G | G+ [Good]: We don't normally list these on Ebay ..they usually go to our "deal bin" at the shop. Yes we do have a real store! We may on occasion sell these if the record or Art is super rare otherwise it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Think 60s parties where 'good' records had the heck played out of 'em by hard partying late night revelers .. we've got plenty of Beatles and Stones in our deal bin! Further Notes and Tips from the Field

A “Looks Glossy and Bright!” designation doesn’t mean that dull and cloudy can’t be just as pristine. Many of our brethren identify this criteria in their higher end gradings but unfortunately it is NOT a reliable indicator. Due to many different manufacturing techniques and processes, mold release compounds, formulations, treatments, etc we've unwrapped plenty of brand new factory sealed records from major labels that were anything but “'glossy and bright”'! Many times there's cloudiness, faint swirls of grey, mottling, or in older records faint environmental transfer, i.e. acids from inner sleeves, etc and this can vary across different manufacturers. We like the deep luster and gloss of a beautifully made record just as much as the next guy or girl but not every record exhibits this way even brand new! So concern yourself with condition, i.e. scuffs and scratches but not necessarily "look". That cloudiness or mottling does not affect playability... or does it? As a rule it’s good practice to thoroughly CLEAN all records even NEW ones to remove the waxes and additives used in processing. Btw, static and dust is every record collectors nemesis and it’s not always easy to rid yourself of this menace.. most audible "noise" is due to these factors and not the “condition” of the record per se. Your stylus is of concern here as well as it picks up gunk in the grooves. A simple tip: gently lower your stylus on to a block of "Mr Clean" magic eraser for an effective cleaner. You'll see the marks it leaves behind. Try Pesio static guns to quell static as it’s impossible to "clean" a record with micro or carbon-fibre pads, cloths, brushes, etc. with static present. If you think its clean hold it up to strong direct light at an angle and invariably you'll be disappointed. Never run a carbon fibre brush directly on the spinning vinyl, the idea is to hold it just over the surface and allow the dust to attract (ionization) or jump to the brush. That’s the theory but in practice it works best on an already pretty clean record for stray particles. Hence why many who start investing substantial sums in records end up buying a "machine" as the use of a wet vac is probably the closest you will get to "clean". A $1k machine is cheaper and probably worth vastly more audio improvements than a $10k turntable will ever provide without one. Happy listening. -BWV

Shipping Policy

• International and/or expedited Shipping is now available only through the Ebay Global Shipping Program.
• We absolutely will combine items for shipping, buy as much as you can! Important: Please utilize the "Request Total" in the shopping cart prior to purchase so we can generate an invoice with discounted shipping. Or simply message us via the ebay messaging service before checking out and we will generate an invoice or tell you how. In most cases we cannot refund the shipping if you do not contact us or request the invoice prior to a purchase. We have had to institute this policy as the refunds after the fact create accounting nightmares especially with the new Ebay payments system. Thank you in advance.
• Delivery to Alaska or Hawaii is available with approved rate quote BEFORE end of auction close or BIN ("Buy it Now") please message us prior to purchase
• Paypal Confirmed Addresses Only; No P.O. Box Delivery. Ebay payment facilities now permit direct Credit Card use.
• We ship via a variety of services. Typically larger items are shipped Ground via UPS or Fed-EX but some are now traveling USPS with their new ground service. International means may vary but most of our items are now shipped internationally via the Ebay Global Shipping Program. According to the policies of that program, once goods are accepted at the Ebay U.S. hub (goods are inspected), we are out of the loop and all subsequent transport and claims for damage, loss, etc. are soley Ebay's responsibility.
• We utilize parcel tracking on all services. Tracking is uploaded at the time of item processing. We utilize freight insurance on applicable items.
• We expertly pack and ship all items to arrive safely at their destination. However, even with such care, occasionally damage can occur due to excessive handling by the carrier. In such cases you will have two options, 1) keep the item if the damage was minor and you are happy doing so, or 2) return the item to us based on a call tag (we cover return shipping in this event). You may need to hold the item for the carrier to perform a damage inspection; we will give instructions for this. You will also need to provide us with photos and a description of the damage. Under no circumstances can we discount items after a sale.
• Items will usually be shipped on the same or next business day of receiving full cleared payment but may take up to two business days.
• Handling Charges. While we do our utmost to keep shipping charges low (better for us and you), due to the nature of many of the products we sell proper packing materials and significant labor is a must to ensure a safe journey. We therefore build in some charges to cover this as we believe that overall customers would prefer to receive their hard won treasures in perfect condition rather than risk poor packing due to artificially low shipping charges.

Payment Policy

• All Ebay approved payments are accepted. Ebay now handles all tax collection on applicable items.
• Payment is expected within 72 hours of auction close or immediately on Buy It Now items, that 's why they call it buy it NOW. Most BIN items are now automatically charged via Ebay. Unpaid items will generate an Ebay unpaid case report. We reserve the right to re-list an item after the initial 72 hours and to deny payments after that time frame if we have re-listed the item(s).
• International buyers please wait for an invoice before making payment. All customs, duties, and any other related fees are the sole responsibility of the buyer / importer. In some cases we may receive a customs bill after the shipment. This will generate an additional invoice to the buyer after the original transaction date that will include a scanned copy of the carrier (customs) invoice showing the original tracking information and associated charges. We try to avoid this but in some jurisdictions and situations, especially on certain pieces where duties may have to be estimated, its not always possible and beyond our control. To be clear: international buyers are responsible for any customs fees on their order including those invoiced after the original transaction (we will always provide actual freight documentation in these cases). We reserve the right to NOT ship an item(s) if they are subject to ITAR or other restrictions, or to deny shipping to certain areas at our discretion. We cannot discount invoices or otherwise fudge customs paperwork, please don't ask. These issues are now handled via the Ebay Global Shipping Program.
• Right to deny service. We reserve the right to deny service to any customer we are not comfortable with including: freight forwarders, "aggregators", intermediaries, known scam risks, etc. If payment has been made and we decide to invoke this policy we will refund monies in full through Paypal and ban the account from our auctions. This is not grounds for negative feedback and any such feedback will be appealed based on our explicit policy. Unfortunately a policy of this kind is necessary for protection from Ebay/Paypal abuses and system gaming. We use proper due diligence in exercising our discretion here.
• In the interest of fairness to other bidders please refrain from bidding on items you do not intend to or can not pay for. Please do not bid on items and later ask about payment plans, etc. We desire everyone to have a fair chance and a hassle free auction.

Return Policy and Listing Philosophy

• Item was damaged in shipping
• Exceptional circumstances (at our discretion)

* This is an exceptionally rare circumstance (in fact, it's never happened .. but we never say never, ever!). Our entire selling philosophy is centered around thorough research and verification, robust descriptions, and excellent photographs to ensure a safe and hassle-free buying experience. While "not as described" can be subjective we avoid this problem by rigorously inspecting our items and revealing any flaws to prospective buyers. On vintage or antique items a verification and/or testing process is followed. Photos are integral to our listings so we offer plenty from a variety of angles and make sure they're clear, detailed, and large. As the old adage goes, pictures are worth a thousand words, and nowhere is this more applicable than on Ebay. Anything not covered in our thorough written description is likely in the photos, please examine each carefully prior to bidding. If a 'flaw' (subjective term) or other detail is somehow not covered in our written description but is clearly visible in our photos (and vice versa) we consider it properly represented. Please note: a listing means the WHOLE listing.
