One of the most loved and influential rock albums of all time presented for sale here in surely it's earliest possible state: Love's Forever Changes as an original MONO UK white-label test pressing.
Serious collectors will know what a sensational discovery this is.
This is a truly heart stopping auction for all those who thought they owned the ultimate copy of this rightly revered classic record. Here is Love: "Forever Changes " as an industry only white label pre-release earliest pressing. Copies of Sgt Pepper in this state have turned up before now. Not this.
To find even a mono first pressing of this monumental work is rare enough but to discover one of the handful of industry advance pressings handed out during the Summer Of Love is truly staggering even for modern record auctions on eBay.
The vinyl is bright and shiny and totally scratch-free even after all these (forty one) years. This is a beautiful, beautiful copy grading without question at the ultra high end of excellent and, in my opinion, a true mint minus. The photos show it's sheen and, very clean and clear, the run out groove with the all-important mono matrices EKL-4013 A1/B1.
The labels themselves are entirely wordless but not entirely blank because of a deft grey-on-white "arrow" style motif repeated across them.
The cover is a standard industry white card affair - flip back - and has, very casually, scrawled on it the band's name, the album title and the track listing (with timings), information that has since become so iconic in rock history. There are some signs of age to the sleeve (browning) but such maturing rather adds to the authenticity.
In the top left another hand has written the allotted Elektra mono catalogue number. EKL 4013.
This item is true rock'n'roll treasure. I have never seen another copy of it in this form. I doubt we ever will again. The classic before anyone knew what was coming their way.
So many people hold this to be the greatest achievement in 60s music.
Here is one of the very first unheard copies handed out to those in the business all those years ago. Music changed thereafter.
