CONDITION DETAILS:

JACKET (VG++)  Nice solid jacket with no major defects. Seams are clean and solid with absolutely no splits or separations, very light shelf wear bottom seam only.  Spine is beautiful with all lettering sharp and black.  The front cover has mere ghosting of ring wear around the middle edges.  The primarily white background reverse cover is exceptionally clean and white. The two bottom corners are slightly dinged, which, with the small bullet hole upper right, combine to keep the grade to a high VG+ instead of EX.  Very solid, fresh looking and visually appealing cover. 

VINYL (EX)  Originally I had this as a M- disc, and even upon playing that's how it sounds.  But looking closely, I saw a few hairline and slide scuffs, so, very conservatively, I have it listed as an EX.  This is a first press, tan label on rather thick (146g) vinyl.  It is fully glossy and very clean.  There are two short scrapes on side 2 that have no impact on sound quality.  The inner groove quality of this disc is exceptional: virtually quiet.

INSERTS - None, as issued.  Original plain paper inner sleeve.

PERSONAL COMMENTS ABOUT THE MUSIC - 

This second release by Arthur Lee and company finds them moving way, way beyond the garage rock sounds of their first LP and jumping head long into psych-tinged hard rock, full-scale jam ups, and even proto-punk.  Gone is the rough-edged, yet still top-fortyish leaning “My Little Red Book," to be replaced with a heavy duty pastiche of sounds and screams in the form of "Seven & Seven Is,” the sole released single to emerge from this collection.  Also here, and not for the faint of heart, is the side-long (perhaps first in rock history?) 19-minute-long, epochal, multi-tempo, psychedelicized, jumble of instruments and voices... all in the form of "Revelation."  All those adjectives are not necessarily negatives, and it’s actually an engaging listen, with some jazz-oriented horns and even drum solo work toward the end. The whole record is certainly intriguing and has been viewed as a rather ground-breaking disc for the rock genre.  In this particular disc we have the rarer and more-in-demand MONO version, which has a slightly different mix and a more cohesive sound than its stereo sister.

I describe my records with as many details as possible, because I want you to get what you think you're getting.  I have been a buyer of records on eBay for many years and I know just how sparsely and/or inaccurately described so many records are.  I want this to be a positive buying experience for you.  My photos accurately show the full jacket (front and back), full disc (front and back), special sleeves or inserts (front and back), as well as an angle view of the spine.  All my records have been shelf-stored vertically in a non-smoking home since their purchase.  They have only been played on high-quality vintage turntables using audiophile-level cartridges and styli (eg. currently using Shure M97xE) at a tracking force of 1.5g+.
