Rare but somewhat worn original 1959 stereo copy of Lou Donaldson’s Blues Walk LP on Blue Note BST-1593. Original 63rd Street address on the labels and cover, and Rudy Van Gelder’s stamp in the runoffs, with the “ear” mark. The cover is the same as the mono version. This was a demonstration copy at LA’s famous Music City record store, and so got a lot of play from people in the old listening booths they used to have. So the disc has quite a lot of marks and scuffs, and looks fairly worn, though it plays decently. Side one actually plays really well, with only light background crackle that is only noticeable now and then, and between tracks. A few occasional light ticks but not bad at all. Side two is much more crackly and poppy, with a couple of spots that catch (repeat.. the opposite of a skip) on some players. I have been playing it on a few different turntables and it only catches on one of them. The others play it pretty well. Anyhow wjth some EQ the crackle can be minimized and it sounds pretty good. There is no groove wear or distortion so it plays clearly, if sometimes noisily. Side one, again, plays pretty nicely. The cover has only minimal wear. There is the Demonstration sticker on the front, obviously, and some light fading at the right edge, and a red X on the back, where there are a few light surface scuffs, but really it is quite clean and shiny, with no seam splits or bent corners or anything like that. Really crisp edges and corners… quite strikingly clean. Rare in any condition.
