'Paradise Lost'
Rare Earth, USA, 1970
518
Very hard to find heavy garage rock band with solid prog moves. Long tracks, great use of dynamics and sinister arrangements. Issued on the Motown white-rock spin off label Rare Earth, a vehicle trying to cash in on the burgeoning heavy psych scene. This album fits the bill perfectly with its killer organ and fuzzed guitar moves. No surprise then to find that one of the guys laler went on to join Frijid Pink.
I found my first copy of this in the early eighties and it always struck me as one of the better rare proto heavy prog albums - nice fuzzed out lead guitar. Like a cross between early Deep Purple and fellow Michigan reprobates SRC.
