Year of release is 1978. This auction is for a rare early release from the great Latin rock band, Los Lobos, on the obscure New Vista label out of Los Angeles. This is a nearly perfect album with just a few minor imperfections. The jacket has a few minor wrinkles that stem from the edge inward perhaps one eighth or one quarter of one inch in length (the kind usually found in covers from the 80's that were placed there either by the pressing plant or a shipper). There is a longer bend wrinkle that is difficult to notice that can be viewed in the image below. The jacket is otherwise like new and looks like it was made yesterday. It has an overall grade of near mint minus. The record visually grades a strong VG++ due to a few superficial scratches that are not unsightly. They cannot be felt or heard. The record has retained all its original luster and is a beautiful piece of nice thick vinyl with neat pictorial labels. The record play grades in near mint condition. The record is a magnificent piece of Latin style music with phenomenal sound quality, bordering on the audiophile. The guitar work is sensational. This is a beautiful acquisition for the East L.A. sound collector or the Latin music collector in general. This record books at $200 in Goldmine's 3rd Edition Record Album Price Guide by Tim Neely. It previously booked in the 4th edition of Goldmine's Price Guide to Collectible Record Albums (Neal Umphred's series) at $400. Regardless of what the books say, this is a great album to own at any price. The record was play graded on an audiophile system employing Basis Ovation, Graham Industries, Transfiguration, Sound Applications, and Jeff Rowland electronics.
