2010 MARKS THE 50th. ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST RECORDING EVER MADE BY THE LEGENDARY "COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER" LORETTA LYNN IN 1960 . . . THE SELF WRITTEN "I'm A Honky-Tonk Girl".
This recording on the independent ZERO RECORDS label debuted on the BILLBOARD COUNTRY SINGLES CHART on June 13, 1960 and peaked at #14 after only 9 weeks !
50 years later these ZERO RECORDS 45 RPM singles are VERY RARE, HIGHLY VALUED, COLLECTOR'S ITEMS.
"Goldmine Price Guide To 45 RPM Records" by Martin Popoff (7th. edition copyright 2009) values a mint condition copy of this record at $500.00. The pictures I have attached to this listing show the page from this book where this value is quoted and a copy of the cover of this very reputable collector's guide.
I rate this record in overall GOOD CONDITION. The record itself on both sides has scuff marks and the label on both sides is quite worn (and includes the handwritten word "Sally" on each side). But most importantly, BOTH SIDES PLAY WITHOUT ANY SKIPS and with good sound quality considering the age of the record and the independent record company nature of the recording (low-to-no budget ! !).
Loretta released 3 singles on ZERO RECORDS. Two (2) of them did not chart. I have all 3 records in my collection which I had Loretta sign for me in person about 10 years ago. I bought all 3 of my records on EBAY about 10 years ago and paid in the range of $200 - $300 for each record. Rather than keeping this extra copy in my personal collection, I have decided to offer it for sale so that other dedicated Loretta Lynn fans and collectors can have a chance at having this in their collection on the occassion of Loretta's 50th year as a recording artist.
